Kent Companies Earns Industry Safety Awards from the American Society of Concrete Contractors and the Associated Builders and Contractors – Western Michigan Chapter

GRAND RAPIDS, MI] – Kent Companies earned recognition for outstanding safety practices from two construction industry associations in August and September 2016.

89be9a5f9fa546571646f5e95fac76b2_f1054In August 2016, The Associated Builders and Contractors – Western Michigan Chapter (ABC/WMC) held the annual STEP Safety Awards. STEP is an acronym for Safety Training Evaluation and Process, which is a merit-based system used to evaluate safety programs on a national basis. Kent Companies was recognized with a Gold STEP award at the ceremony. Corporate Safety Manager Lacey Jansma and Corporate Human Resources Director Mindy Curtiss accepted the award.

In September 2016, the American Society of Concrete Contractors (ASCC) granted Kent Companies two awards at the 2016 national conference held in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The ASCC 2016 Certificate of Recognition commended Kent Companies for maintaining an incident rate below the national average for contractors for the year ending December 31, 2015. The Safety Improvement Award recognized Kent Companies for reducing the rate of lost workday cases for the calendar year ending December 31,2015. Corporate Safety Manager Lacey Jansma accepted the awards on behalf of the company.

Kent Companies CEO Jeff VanderLaan commented, “Safety is our first priority in all that we do. We provide on-going training opportunities for our team to maintain safe operations on all job sites. Moreover, we encourage our team members to ask questions about safety-related issues. We believe that every safety question deserves an answer. We are all responsible for helping each other return home safely every night.”

Kent Companies has added three full-time safety managers in the last year to provide consistency in training, employee resources and inspections across job sites nationwide.
