General Superintendent Mike VanBemden Awarded Inaugural Craft Professional of the Year by ABC-West Michigan

[Grand Rapids, Michigan] – Kent Companies General Superintendent Mike VanBemden was awareded the inaugural Craft Professional of the Year (CPOY) Award by the Associated Builders and Contractors – Western Michigan Chapter. The award was granted on September 15, 2015 at the annual Excellence in Construction Awards ceremony. The event included over 300 attendees who gathered to recognize 69 construction projects, eightsafety awards and three CPOY finalists.

Eight craft professionals were nominated from ABC-WMC member companies, and three were chosen as finalists. The three finalists were interviewed by a juding panel and featured in a video highlight reel during the awards program. Mike VanBemden was selected for his passion for concrete, taking pride in hands-on work and the satisfaction of a job well done to benefit both the construction industry and the greater community. Mike’s commitment to excellence was recognized as the ultimate example of the merit shop philosophy and success in the craft profession. If selected as a national finalist, Mike will be recognized at the March 2016 ABC Workforce Development Conference in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.
