Kent Companies Awarded National Excellence in Ethics Award by the American Subcontractors Association

[GRAND RAPIDS, MI] – Kent Companies was honored by the American Subcontractors Association (ASA) with the national Excellence in Ethics Award at the ASA SUBExcel conference in Miami, Florida on March 5, 2016. The ASA is a national trade organization representing construction subcontractors, specialty trade contractors and suppliers. The Excellence in Ethics Award honors firms that demonstrate the highest standards of internal and external integrity in the construction industry. Kent Companies was one of only 13 contractors across the nation to receive the award.

An extensive application process required a review of each applicant’s corporate ethics, code of conduct, construction practices, financial controls, safety and health policies and community relations initiatives. The application package also required sealed recommendation letters from a customer, a competitor and a supplier.

Kent Companies CEO Jeff VanderLaan shared, “This award recognizes the dedication of our people to putting forth their very best work every day. We strive for continuous improvement in safety, productivity, quality and customer service.” VanderLaan continued, “We’re helping to change the skyline in cities like Grand Rapids, Detroit, Charlotte and Dallas. Our customers, our suppliers and our community count on us to do the right thing, and we take that commitment very seriously.”

Founded in 1966, ASA amplifies the voice of and leads trade contractors to improve the business environment for the construction industry and to serve as a steward for the community. The ideals and beliefs of ASA are ethical and equitable business practices, quality construction, a safe and healthy work environment, integrity and membership diversity. ASA is commemorating its 50th anniversary during 2016.
