Kent Companies earns ABC Award of Excellence for Midwest Energy & Communications –
[GRAND RAPIDS, MI] – The Associated Builders and Contractors – West Michigan Chapter recognized Kent Companies’ Midwest Energy & Communications project with an Award of Excellence in the Pre-Cast Concrete category.
Midwest Energy undertook a new facility expansion in 2016 to accommodate 30% growth in employees and related operating space and equipment needs. The facility expansion included an office, data center and warehouse, all originally designed as pre-cast concrete structures. However, an aggressive project schedule demanded a more efficient construction approach.
PARIC Corporation (the general contractor) partnered with Kent Companies’ Division 110 to change the construction method to site-cast pre-cast concrete, or tilt-wall construction.
Division 110 placed 208 site-cast pre-cast concrete panels across three buildings. Throughout the course of the project, the team placed over 7,600 cubic yards of concrete. Tilt-wall construction provided significant schedule benefits to the Midwest Energy & Communications.
