ABC-WMC recognized Kent Companies with a Gold Safety Training Evaluation Process (STEP) Award. The STEP program was developed in 1989 by the ABC National Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S) Committee. The program uses a 20-point guide to audit the entire nature of a company’s safety program.

nawicNAWIC Grand Rapids Chapter 194 honored Kent Companies with the Safety Excellence Award which recognizes member companies that maintain a corporate commitment to safety and loss prevention. Kent Companies submitted documentation for employee training, management initiatives and innovative safety program practices. Kent Companies Corporate Safety Manager Lacey Jansma is slated as the President Elect for the Grand Rapids chapter.

“Safety is at the forefront of all we do,” commented Kent Companies CEO Jeff VanderLaan. “It is one of the Four Hallmarks of our work, and it is a core component of our employee culture and values program. We encourage our team members to ask questions when they’re unsure of a job site process, proper tool usage or a potential hazard. We want to hear those concerns because it gives us the opportunity to respond with a solution that keeps everyone safe on the job.”
