Project: Scheels – The Colony, Texas

General Contractor: Sampson Construction

Scheels is more than a sporting goods store…it’s a major entertainment destination. The Commercial Division team is helping build a super-sized 325,000 square foot retail store in The Colony, Texas. At that size, it is 13 times larger than a traditional big box sporting goods store. If that wasn’t enough, Scheels will feature a 65-foot Ferris wheel and a 16,000-gallon salt water aquarium too. This project will be Scheels’ largest store among its 27 total properties.

Groundbreaking for the Scheels was on February 8, 2018. Superintendent Jesus “Chuy” Barboza and his team are leading the charge for General Superintendent Luis Mendez. Our scope of work includes over 300 piers, grade beams and footings; 129,900 square feet of slab on grade; 122,250 square feet of slab on metal deck; Ferris wheel slabs and elevator and escalator pits.

Project: The Hudson Apartments – Uptown Dallas

The Hudson is a luxury apartment complex consisting of five and six-story wood frame buildings over an at grade concrete podium, with below grade parking. General Superintendent Arturo Sierra and Superintendent Felix Lopez and their teams are doing an outstanding job pushing this project forward. Despite weeks of rain delays, we are moving right along. The basement slab on grade, walls and garage columns are complete (Level B2). We are pouring the first deck (Level B1) this week. Check out the photo progression below to see how far we’ve come.
