Modern Flooring Technology Helps a 1950’s Office Renovation Take Flight
The renovation of a 1950’s office building presented several challenges to SeaLandAire Technologies and RW Mercer. The existing structural floor slab settled nine inches in the center of the slab. RW Mercer partnered with Kent Companies to level the slab and install critical infrastructure components.
Kent Companies’ repair plan included lightweight concrete, high density polystyrene foam panels, and self-leveling underlayment. First, the Kent Companies team corrected the nine-inch settlement by installing several layers of high-density foam panels covered by 5,100 square feet of lightweight concrete. Then, the Kent team poured two inches of Level-Right Self Leveling Underlayment and feather-edged to zero at
the perimeter of the 13,000 square foot pour area. This application met all dead load restrictions and resulted in a smooth, flat surface for new finished floor products.
