In underlayments, efficiency is everything. Project schedules depend on partners who can deliver without question – regardless of project size, complexity, or changing requirements. As a national leader in poured floor underlayments, Kent Underlayments has the people, fleet, and inventory to keep projects moving and schedules on track.
Capacity Defined by Manpower & Adaptability
At Kent, capacity is more than headcount - it's the ability to scale and to adapt. Every project is carefully planned to minimize mobilizations, maximize efficiency, and ensure crews are deployed where they're needed most. Nationally, we have fifteen crews based in offices across the Midwest, Southeast, and Texas. Altogether, that’s over 100 trained field professionals who are ready to deliver projects of any size. When larger projects require additional manpower, crews can be combined seamlessly to increase production without compromising quality or schedules.
“If there’s one thing Kent can promise, it’s horsepower,” shared Division Manager Ed Hardesty. “We can double our crew size if we need to. With five divisions and strategic geographic coverage, the manpower is always in place.”
The Numbers Behind the Capacity
Kent Underlayments’ footprint is backed by a fleet of 32 pumps and 42,000 square feet of protected warehouse space, ensuring crews have the equipment and materials they need to perform. This capacity translates directly into project success:
- August Hills (Dallas, TX): Delivered 345,000 SF of gypcrete and 28,285 SF of balconies across a 23-building apartment community while maintaining schedule and averaging 18 yards poured per day.
- Rivertown Commons (Grandville, MI): A 12-building multifamily complex with a fast-track schedule. When the general contractor added a pre-pour mobilization to add bathrooms halfway through the project, Kent's stocked inventory enabled the team to accommodate the additional mobilizations.
- Arcadia at Carolina Forest (Myrtle Beach, SC): A seven-building apartment complex where Kent delivered 244,000 SF of gypcrete and 54,000 SF of waterproofing for balconies and breezeways. By coordinating two crews—one focused on gypcrete and the other on concrete, we maintained the tight durations sent to the general contractor.
“We keep our warehouses fully stocked so when customers call, we’re ready,” said Division Manager Zach VanBemden. “Plus, we have 32 pumps across the company, so crews always have the equipment and stock they need.”
