Growing Stronger Together: Kent Crew Builds on ESL Success

Our culture is rooted in growth. It’s an expectation we place on ourselves and a commitment we make to our people.

When several leaders from our Kent Facilities team expressed interest in improving their English, we knew we had to make it happen. In partnership with the West Michigan Literacy Center, we created a fully customized English as a Second Language (ESL) program tailored specifically to Kent. Alex Tello Monico, Alex Milian, Luis Moran Gualim, and Jose Milian completed the initial program last year. But they didn’t stop there.

Starting the year off strong, they chose to continue their development through a two-week advanced course designed to refresh and strengthen their skills. The program expanded beyond the classroom, incorporating real-world community experiences to practice conversational English in everyday settings.

“When employees want to grow, we want to support them in every way we can,” says National HR Director Mindy Curtiss. “The fact that they completed the first course and then committed to a second demonstrates real dedication to personal and professional growth.”

This is how we invest in our employees. Not just by providing opportunity, but by meeting ambition with action. When one person grows, the entire team gets stronger. In this case, four times stronger.

We’re proud of Alex, Alex, Luis, and Jose for continuing to raise the bar and for showing what it means to take ownership of your development.

Inspired to take charge of your own growth? Join a team that’s always moving forward.
