Acquisition of Subfloor Systems, Inc. in Dallas, Texas

Kent Companies announces the acquisition of Dallas-based Subfloor Systems, Inc., which performs underlayments and sound control, waterproofing, floor leveling, and elevated waterproofing and concrete installations. The new division will operate as Kent Underlayments, and it is the company’s fifth underlayments division.

Kent Underlayments is one of the largest underlayments contractors nationwide with operations in Dallas, Texas; Charlotte, North Carolina; Grand Rapids and Detroit, Michigan; and Columbus, Ohio.

“Kent Underlayments expands our total service offering to the multifamily sector,” shares Division Manager Andy Thigpen. “We’re a proven entity for complex multifamily and structural concrete construction in North and Central Texas. We are excited to officially make Subfloor Systems’ team members, assets, and contracts a part of Kent Underlayments. This strategic move means we will deliver more comprehensive services to our customers. We’re fulfilling a request they’ve made of us for years.”

General Manager Damian Portillo will operate Kent Underlayments’ Dallas-based division. Portillo adds, “Kent Underlayments will deliver the same safety, quality, productivity, and customer service that define Kent on jobsites across the country. We’re building upon generational expertise in underlayments. Our track record, size, and scale mean we have the horsepower and supply chain that our customers need.”
