John VanderLaan founded Kent Concrete which specialized in pouring residential driveways - a new feature for many homes throughout the 1950’s.
John’s sons, Al and Roger, assume leadership of Kent Concrete.
Kent Concrete grew and diversified to serve additional markets and customers. Services included concrete pumping, floor underlayments, concrete polishing and staining, facilities services, mudjacking, foundation restoration, excavation and masonry.
Kent Concrete becomes Kent Companies to reflect the full breadth and depth of services offered. Kent Companies expanded to Detroit, Lansing and Traverse City, Michigan.
Kent Companies acquired what is now Kent Companies, Texas in Dallas, Texas. Kent Companies Texas serves clients throughout the United States' southern tier including Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Missouri.
Kent Companies added operations in Charlotte, North Carolina to serve an increasingly national customer base.
Third generation leadership began as Al’s son Jeff and Roger's sons Chris and Matt took ownership of Kent Companies.
Kent Companies added operations in Central Ohio.
Kent Companies continues to build for future generations.
