Have you seen the newest Level Up safety videos on Facebook and YouTube? Safety is the first priority on every job site. We’re asking you to share the simple safety checks you do every day to work safely. The first five videos submitted each week earn a $50 gift card.

Prizes:
$50 prizes are awarded for the first five videos submitted each week.
How to Participate:
- Use your phone to record a short safety tip. (around 30 seconds or less)
- Tell us your name and what job site you’re working on.
- Be safe! You must be wearing all PPE in your video. You can only record before/after work or at a safe stopping point.
- Text or email your video to your local safety manager.

Applications Open Now Through March 31!
The Make it Happen Scholarship Program is a benefit for the families of full-time Kent Companies employees. Scholarship applications are available to students pursuing trade school, technical certification or a traditional college degree.
If you have a child/dependent who is pursuing trade school, tech certifications or college, you need to know about this program! We’ve awarded over $30,000 in scholarships over the last five years.
The scholarship application is a competitive, merit-based process. That means the most well-planned, thorough and thoughtful applications earn larger scholarships.
Who can apply?
- Applicant must be the legal dependent child of a full time Kent Companies employee and be under the age of 26.
- Applicant must have a 3.0 grade point average. High school or College grade transcripts must be submitted with all applications.
- Applicants who have applied previously must complete the entire application process in order to be considered.
Timeline:
- January 1-March 31: Applications are accepted.
- April 1-30: Scholarship Committee evaluations.
- May 15: Scholarship notifications are released to all applicants.

Division 110 – All Hands Meeting NEXT Friday (2/7/20)

Extension Cord Safety
A few safety facts about using extension cords:
- Use extension cords only when necessary and only on a temporary basis. Do not use extension cords in place of permanent wiring.
- If you must use an extension cord in an area with high pedestrian traffic, you must either elevate it with cord trees, (at least 7’ high), or cover them with floor cord covers!
- Do not remove the prongs of an electrical plug. If plug prongs are missing, loose, or bent, replace the entire plug. The ground prong is there to protect you from shock!
- Do not use an adapter or extension cord to defeat a standard grounding device. Only place three-prong plugs in three-prong outlets; do not alter them to fit in a two-prong outlet.
- Use extension cords that are the correct size or rating for the equipment in use. The diameter of the extension cord should be the same or greater than the cord of the equipment in use.
- Never plug a portable GFCI into an extension cord. The GFCI should always be at the power source.
- Only use cords rated for outdoor use when using a cord outside.
- Do not run cords above ceiling tiles, through walls, or across anything that could be conductive. (Scaffold tubes, Forms, etc.)
- Keep electrical cords away from areas where they may be pinched and areas where they may pose a tripping or fire hazard (e.g., doorways, walkways, under carpet, etc.).
- Always inspect the cord prior to use to ensure the insulation isn’t cut or damaged. Discard damaged cords, cords that become hot, or cords with exposed wiring.
- Never unplug an extension cord by pulling on the cord; pull on the plug at the outlet.
